About the Event
Ceramic restorations are one of the most commonly used restorative dental materials in the market. There are different systems available today and they provide unique opportunities to mimic nature in restoring patient's tooth structure. These materials have the optical, functional and biological properties close to natural dentition and there are many systems available with advantages and disadvantages, indications and contra-indications that create difficulties in practitioners recognizing what the system is and when and how to prescribe it. Success and failures are part of treatment outcomes. This lecture will provide a description of the types of ceramic systems available as well as the risks and modes of failure. There will be clinical considerations in terms of the evidence for chances of success utilizing different ceramic systems. This information will be related to natural abutment teeth as well as with dental implants. We will have the opportunity to discuss treatment plan options with dental implants, prosthesis design, material selection and the level of complications that we could encounter with fixed implant supported restorations.
