Designed for dentists practicing in the real world, Holy $%&@!, I Didn’t Know You Could Do That with Composite! redefines what is possible with direct composite restorations. Dr. John Gammichia draws on over 30 years of private practice experience to address the daily clinical challenges dentists face—fractured cusps, deep decay, cracked teeth, post-endo restorations, and patients who cannot afford indirect treatment options.

The course begins by reinforcing the foundations: Class I and Class II restorations, adhesion principles, and contemporary minimally invasive philosophy. From there, Dr. Gammichia builds progressively into advanced territory, guiding participants through the decision-making and execution of large, multi-cusp composite restorations, including cases many clinicians might otherwise feel compelled to crown or extract.

Key topics include managing deep and extensive decay, restoring cracked and compromised teeth, and confidently handling restorations that feel “too big” or too risky. Along the way, common myths are dismantled: that large composites don’t last, that they aren’t predictable, or that they aren’t financially viable. Instead, participants will gain a clear philosophical and clinical framework that supports both long-term success and practice profitability.

This lecture is intentionally provocative, engaging, and at times uncomfortable, in the best possible way. By the end of the course, participants will not only have a renewed respect for composite dentistry, but the skills and confidence to apply these techniques immediately in practice, walking away with the unmistakable realization: “Holy $%&@!, I didn’t know you could do that with composite.”

Course Objectives:

Participants in this course will be able to:

  1. Describe the clinical philosophy and decision-making framework required to plan and execute complex, multi-cusp composite restorations that are functional, esthetic, and predictable

  2. Apply contemporary approaches to managing cracked teeth and post-endodontic cases using direct composite techniques

  3. Evaluate the longevity, clinical performance, and economic viability of advanced composite restorations, dispelling common misconceptions regarding durability, enjoyment, and profitability
